Ok, I just purchased and installed the IF in october. I bought a new Dell Demessions E 310 Computer to put it on.I have nothing else on it and thought it would be nice to add Liebermans CDs.

My question is.....Would my computer have enough memory to download the 6 Liebermans CD's or should I buy the DVD. I don't even know enough about computers to know if mine takes DVD's. I assume all the new ones will play DVDs too, but I could be wrong.

Lieberman's told me I would need 3.5 something and 120MD.

Please do not laugh out loud at my ignorance:party:
(It's funny too because since I added the IF and CMC, I have been advertising as the "1st High Tech Framing Gallery' in our area)

Hi

If your computer has a DVD player, I would go for the DVD version. It installs much faster and stores the info on the DVD instead of the hard drive. I worked in the LifeSaver booth at the show, and loaded this DVD on several PCs there. It was impressive how much faster it installed, from the CD version we use here in the shop.

If you wish to go the CD route, i'm sure that your new pc has plenty of space. It will use about 3-4 gigabytes of disk space. Your computer likely came with a nearly empty 80 or 120gb drive, so this won't even put a dent in it.

The current version is 2.5, and interfaces directly with LifeSaver and FrameVue. It also has built in internet ordering, a gallery mode where you can let the public use it, and a library of over 200,000 prints.

Enjoy!

Thanks Mike,

Do you have to load the DVD everytime a customer comes in, or can you leave it running?

One more stupid question......How can I tell if I have a DVD player?

The software needs a one time install. It does not need to be installed each time you use it. When you insert the DVD for the first time, it will ask which way you wish to install it:

a) Typical - The search software is installed on your PC, and the DVD will have to be in the drive if you wish to do searches and see the images. They will be stored on the DVD only.

b) Complete - The search software AND image database are installed on your PC. The DVD will not be needed again. Uses about 3gb of disk space, but will be much more convenient and faster. Hard drives are faster than DVD drives.

I recommend B)COMPLETE INSTALL from above. This will make it quicker when (if) you interface it with LifeSaver and FrameVue.

If the drive has DVD capability, it will probably have this printed on the door that opens when you insert a CD. It may even be etched into the plastic drawer.

Best regards

Mike

Another dumb question: Why is browsing through the Lieberman's DVD any better than their free web site? I do searches for customers on their site all the time. Are there more images on the CD? Seems like the web site would be more up to date. ??
