A client just asked me to frame a pair of boxing gloves and a 1970's (?) Sports Illustrated cover as a donation to a fundraiser. Both gloves and the magazine cover are signed by the World Featherweight Champion from that year. These items are NOT originals. The gloves were purchased from a local sporting goods store and appear to be practice gloves or something. The magazine cover is a scanned copy. I have seen boxing gloves framed before--actually a pair of Muhammed Ali's--done in an acrylic box on a wooden base. Simple, elegant and beautiful. But they were suspended by the laces, and these don't resemble those gloves at all.
I have no idea how to approach this design. I've tried putting the gloves side by side and they just look clunky. Also big and expensive! I need to keep the costs down on this just a bit, since it's a donation, but I would like to do a good job, too. I would really appreciate hearing any ideas from all of you out there!
