I'm amazed I only received two replies as I assume many of you use QuickBooks, I wanted to answer my own question in case anyone else needs it. The IRS will accept Black & White W-2's, BUT they must be printed on plain white PERFORTED paper, of course, only available from QuickBooks.

I think the IRS is trying to slip you the green wiener.
I have seen W-2 forms available at Staples and they appear to be a four part, paperless form. I cannot recall whether they were perforated or had those pin feed holes in them, but I suspect they didn’t.
My wife’s W-2 does not have perforations.

The IRS website is www.irs.gov
But for what you're looking for:
Go to www.socialsecurity.gov/employer
select "Electronically File your W-2"s"
Log onto "Business Services Online"
"Create Forms W-2s Online"
This will allow you to fill in form W-2 to file with the SSA and to print out copies of the form to file with the State and local government. It will also allow you to print out the form to distribute to your employees. It will print out a W-3 for your records based on the information submitted.
This is pretty basic, perhaps you would be better off dumping this in your accountant's lap?

I do mine online and prior to that I went to the Library. Two days ago, I noticed my local office supply had them for purchase.
You do have to apply for the online pin number and that comes in the mail.
