Ok, I just got a call from a Bonnie @ Max Professionals (1-800-655-1675) wanting to send me an archival spray adhesive for 6.19 a can ( we pay more than that now). "We'll send you 6 cans and you can try it for 30 days and if you like it you can then send us a check". She verified my address, which she already had, got my name and said they would be arriving by UPS in 4 or 5 days.
Sounded good, right?
Anyone heard of this company or used their product?
Just thought I would check with y'all to make sure this is legit.
Thanks....

See thread: "Hello, can I help you?"
1) What is "archival spray adhesive"?
2) Are you still using this stuff?

We really only use spray adhesive for none archival projects. Rogatory, I agree with "What is "archival spray adhesive"?" She was the one that mentioned that it was archival, that is why I mentioned it in my post. I was just so busy with my morning stuff that I really didn't have time to chat with her about it.

IS it the spray you spray onto paper to buffer the acids and keep it from yellowing?

No, she said that it was an adhesive.

A couple of observations...
1. There is no such thing as an "archival" spray adhesive. She's probably referring to its chemical composition being stable over time, but that's only part of the problem. Any spray or pressure-sensitive adhesive would soak into the fibers of a porous item (such as paper or fabric) and probably would never be removed, even by invasive conservation treatments.
2. Sprays are toxic.
3. Solvent based adhesives degrade over time, and their bond will typically fail more quickly than a water-based paste, and probably sooner than a proper dry mount, as well. I have seen spray adhesives fail in less than a year, with air bubbles in the center section of the item.

I found a box of that spray adhesive that my predecessor ordered from them in 2002 (packing slip still attached, same ph#)) It's called "Stick It!" and nowhere on the can does it say it's archival.
