I am a manufacturer's rep, and I have a customer who has asked me for information that I cannot find anywhere.
I have a customer who has asked me if there is anyone who produces fillets for oval frames. I am not familiar with anyone who sells anything remotely like this. Would any of you have any source for a product like this?
I asked the folks at Putnam, and they didn't have a clue on this either. The only other source I can think of is Inline Ovals.
Any help out there?

FrameRep,

It's been a few years, but I've seen this done (tried it once). You'll need to find a source of plastic fillet material.

With the appropriate length, feed it through a chopper, but back the blades up just slightly so that they take bites out of the flanged portion of the fillet. This will leave just the "crown" portion intact.

Move along, taking successive bites so that the fillet looks like so many "teeth". This treatment, will of course allow the plastic fillet to flex and bend around an oval or circle opening.

If I recall, Super Glue-T was the recommended product for adherring the end pieces together.

Cheers,

John

Framers have Computer Mat Cutters. Woodworkers have Computer Controlled Routers. Find a woodworker with one of these and have them cut you a filet to size. You'll have to finish it. Inline Ovals uses machines like this and I have had them make custom sized arched frames from their standard profiles - and the price isn't bad.

We get gilded bevels with oval openings from our finished corner suppliers. Sometimes they add the wrapped top mat, sometimes we do it ourselves. Could be a viable alternative
