Just wondering what you are doing for the upcoming holiday season. Adding staff, increasing store hours, buying more stock moulding, etc. Do the recent retail numbers (disasterous, down from 9/01) affect any of your decisions.
Also what sort of bonuses do you give during this time of year to your employess?

I'll probably just kiss my family good-bye, give the dog power-of-attorney and set up the cot in the back room.

I HATE the holidays - right up until December 25.

Longer store hours to be open, beef up the staff, beef up the limited edition canvas inventory and REALLY beef up the advertising.

Then get larger money bags to carry the profits to the bank

THHINK POSITIVELY FOLKS. ITLL BE A FANTASTIC SEASON

Longer hours in both my jobs - my shop, and the part-time shop. And nutball customers! They seem to let all of the nutballs out here just prior to the Holidays.

Susan

Does longer hours mean your shops will be open extended hours or you will be doing more work.
Also no bites on bonuses?
Besides positive thinking any thoughts one way or the other towards projected sales?

Spend Less time on the Grumble?

Project sales? Yep, I project I will sell :D

Work longers hours? Nope, I practically live here anyway. What else would I do? Go home to the wife?

Bonuses? Haaa! I work alone. I hope to put a little extra in me pocket. :D

Look forward to the Green grass of spring. tongue.gif

I plan on working smarter, not harder.

I imagine I'll look for the glass cutter that was lost in the move to our new shop. Or, I might perfect my glass-cutting table. Of course, there's always my secret, lustful desire: get that big United order together! Then there's always moving that third-from-the-end track light a little bit to the right...

Seriously, though, I'd love to save up a bit of cash and head to The Land of Cheryl (Boone/Blowing Rock, NC) for a long weekend, as long as my chiropractor can go with us.

Longer hours for me, not the shop. Maybe stay open a little later on one or two days, if it looks like it might be necessary. We'll probably try to weather the "storm" this first year, and make due with just the two of us. Funny, though, how I've been saying that I'll never spend another Christmas in retail for the last ten plus years, yet here I am. I guess I must secretly like it...

All in all, if I can make it through the season with out causing anyone serious harm, then it's been a good year. :D
