I recieved a nice e-mail from Tricia Bisoux that was part of a mass mailing to those of us who have posted opinions on glazing. She want's to use our opinions in a larger artical for Framing Business News. She was vague on if she would be giving recognition to the authors or The Grumble.

My feeling is if we are getting recognition or The Grumble is, we should say yes to that one particular artical. I personaly will not respond untill this is made clear.

Actually, John, Tricia Bisoux was an assistant editor for Decor and wrote one or two of the articles published about different things that I did here at Touch the Wild Gallery in years gone by.

I would fully endorse an article written by Tricia and would be happy to add whatever I could to the opinions of others on the use of various types of glass from a small framer's point of view.

Good luck.

I was amazed at the last ABN at the number of "grumblers" that were quoted in different articles. I'm impressed with the company that I'm keeping here!

I, too have some opinions on various glass mfgr's. We use Tru-Vue a lot. The worst experience was with some UV glass with a Denglas sticker over the Sandel logo.
I started a thread about 8 months ago on it. It's amazing how some brands of glass cut differently than others. I cut all the glass by hand, with the same cutter, so I know the difference is by brand.
The Denglas-labeled UV was particularly nasty. The coating was imperfect, with spots, and it cut horribly. So there's my 1 cents worth. When I go to the shop, I'll be better armed with brands, etc, should she be interested in contacting me.

It IS encouraging that more and more manufacturers and folks in the trade-publication industry read the grumble. MM's response from Fletcher was a good example, and there have been many more. It's gratifying to know they're listening.

Tricia interviewed me at length via phone awhile back for a corporate framing article in ABN. I was impressed that I was quoted correctly and as well, she credited me quite frequently throughout the article as she did Paulette as well.
I wouldn't worry about it John, if you take the time to help her, she's the kind of lady who seems to give credit where credit is due. Besides, I think she writes great articles and you should be in good company.

These articles are pretty benign and the writers are looking for quotes as part of the research. They don't espouse any validation, they just offer different points of view. And, heck, sometimes it's nice to see your name in print.

It's all about the sun shinning on a different dog's behind every day.

Well I guess many of these articles ARE "benign" and can't be treated as anything more than somebody's "day in the sun" but it is a real ego boost and simply a good thing to see something that you designed or an opinion that you hold printed in a national publication once in awhile. I have learned so much in the 15 years that I have pursued the framing profession and a good deal of what I learned was from other people's "opinions".

I'm not sure if I am getting irritated at your "holier than thou" attitude of seeming to put down the little guy or if I am just feeling sorry for your lack of real world feeling for life. I enjoy it, life, and I make do and I try to help those who have a need of help without trying to make them feel that they have to look UP to see me.

Sorry if my footprints have landed on anybody's toes. I am not one to conceal my feelings about anything.

Thanks for the input you guys. I had never heard of Tricia until now. I don't read Framing Business News and I havn't seen a Decor in years.
I get PFM but it's rare when I can find the time to read any of the articals. I like Mark's column, he shoots streight, so I try to read that from time to time.
I will send her my OK to go ahead with it.
