searching picture framers

i am trying to find out about a picture which has been given to me. the only info i have is that it was framed by w.k. simkin, possibly from the bury st edmunds area. has anyone any info on these people. anything would be brilliant, thanx

I just looked at the 2001 Directory of Fine Art Trade Guild (UK) members, and nothing really came up with the name that you supplied.....sounds like an individual name rather than the name of a business?

In either way, I'd suggest two sources of info.....you'll find a number of framers in Leicester that are FATG members. If you contact some of them, they may know the name? You can find them listed at the Fine Art Trade Guild's Find a Retail Member (http://www.fineart.co.uk/RETAILS/INDEX.HTM) Page.

Otherwise, send an e-mail query to the Guild and I'm sure they'll assist you.

Is the picture a relatively recent work?If not try contacting the local fine art representative for the big auction houses such as Christies or Sothebys etc.Their chaps ought to know about either the painting or should be able to identify the picture framer.

If it is a recent item then if the company is a member of the FATG then they will be listed as John says.If they are not members then maybe a moulding rep will be able to find out for you.
