I'm just a glutton for punishment. I under estimated a bit. I knew better than quoting on a job without exactly measuring and giving more thought about what was involved! Oh well, it looks like they will be great high-end clients.

Anyway, I have to frame 2 Tappa cloths. Each one in it own frame. The client wants the frames to be the same size, as they will be hung as a set. The finished sizes are 72"x60". The Tappas will be float mounted on raw silk whisper or marble linen. I am petty sure that the fabric only comes 54" wide, so I will have to splice pieces together. I am thinking of wrapping some mitered or butted foam. I know that there is a foam board that is large enough for one piece, but I guess that won't do me any good if the fabric won't come large enough, and I bet my distributor won't have it. Getting acrylic in 1/8" or 1/4" is not a problem, but I was wondering if OP-3 comes that large? The frame will be LaMarche's 3024 black & gold reverse. I quoted $825 each.

Please feel free to offer advice. I always like to think I like challenges and want to handle large jobs, but somehow when I get them I wonder what the **** am I doing? Someone has to do it.

Hey look what I found!

Maine is the sight of one of CYRO's manufacturing facilities. 3/16 is sufficient thickness for the piece even if it is over 48 x 96. If you need UV acrylic that should be available any day now. Call a local distributor and get a price. If your piece is over 48, ask for the new 72 x 96 x 3/16 OP3.

Good luck,

Lois

Less, check your local fabric store, especially if you have a store in your area that sells ends and overstock from the garment industry or home dec industry. We have a couple of places around here that I can buy fabric in really wide widths that sells ends from some of those sources. You should be able to find some there being as near NY as you are.
