Has anyone out here recently purchased the new "Prisma Maxi" double miter saw? I made several phone calls to different distributors and what was mostly suggested was a Pistorios. The way i found out about the Prisma Maxi was just "surfing the web". I called the company "Pam Fasteners" and talked to a woman. She knew "almost" every detain about it. At the end she gave me the name of a person who also works and sells the equipment...he knew every detail. He game me the name of a few other people who purchased one and all agreed that they would NEVER swap it for a Pistorios and two of the people asked me if i wanted to buy the USED Pistorios...lol. The advantage i was told was that you can cut a piece of wood (for exanple) as big as 3 1/4 thick x 7" wide! The minor disadvantage (from what they all said) was to make a left cut you pull the saw towards you for the cut and to make a right hand cut you pull the saw towards you for the cut. I was also told it is VERY quiet and makes super fine cuts and perfect 45's. If you own one, please give me your opinion....thanks. ajh

The Prisma Maxi can be seen here: http://www.pamfast.com/page_2.htm

I am somewhat confused about where the inconvenience is here?!?

HI "frameguy". I might have put down the high quality of the equipment my using the word "disadvantage". It's not really a "disadvantage". It just takes longer to make two 45 degree angles with the Prisma Maxi than with a Pistorios because with the Pistorios, all you do is press down the foot pedal (manual model)to the floor to cut BOTH 45's at once, whereas the Prisma Maxi makes ONE cut at a time. This fact doesn't really discourage me from purchasing the the Prisma Maxi. I rather use a mitre saw that makes a finer cut but take a slight longer than one that is faster and the cuts aren't as good. So far, from what i have learned about this double mitre saw, the chances of me getting one is 7 out of 10. ajh
