I see that a few of us have avatars (little pictures) under our names. How can I get in on this?

Ron Eggers

Boggy,

Check your profile. Framer says it's still experimental but you can play with it. I expect if it becomes widely used, it will slow down page load times for many of us, but you also have the option of hiding avatars that others are using, so you won't be affected.

Framer is always looking for new ways to amuse and dazzle us.

I currently only have them turn on for Moderators.

Finally, a legitimate moderator perk to go along with the title!

Or are the moderators really the avatar guinea pigs? You know - to see if they cause brain damage to the user?

Either way, it's a fun toy. Thanks, Framer.

Ah well, I was hoping to get one, but I'll wait until the grumbling public is allowed :(

Actually Ron, your first perk in being a moderator was the that you get to use this as an excuse for the time spent on the computer....

"But Honey, I've got to go back online now, to make sure that the Grumble is OK.....I'm a Moderator, you know!"P.S. Wasn't this image of you, a picture drawn by a local artist back in 1978?

What a cool site! Last month we needed some Biblical words translated for a Youth play at church. I have a friend on another list who is Swedish, so I had her do one and a nephew that speaks Bulgarian (he is a Morman missionary) so he did another. Never even THOUGHT that there might be such a site! PS: it is really hard to type Pig Latin. I would like extra credit....

How could you do such a thing?? I was so impressed with your diverse knowledge.

I can't IMAGINE (http://www.google.com/language_tools?hl=en) anyone using such MISLEADING (http://www.google.com/language_tools?hl=en) tactics to make us believe that they were FLUENT (http://www.google.com/language_tools?hl=en) in another language!

Well, all I can say to you is vous pouvez duper une partie du peuple toujours, tout le peuple parfois, mais pas tout le peuple toujours! ;)

Ellen,
Extra credit has been applied, now if only you had written in Latin de Porc! oohLaLa!

Framerguy,
Kind, naive man! I have an internet connection, and I'm not afraid to use it!

Ron,
Un croûton vaut la peine un discotheque pour des mille-pattes! Comeon. Try it, you'll like it!

OK, OK......now that we got 'em, what are the Avatar Rules? Like what if you grab one of the preset designs....can someone else grab the same one? Can you change? smile.gif

I'm assuming that we can't drop our own into the mix for fear of image files being too large.......loading for 10 mintues on a dialup, etc. :(

I looked for the little Ron 1978 Avatar but couldn't find it anywhere! Shucks....I wanted to steal this one for sure....Doesn't this discussion sort of belong on warped?

Miterman, it appears that you simply have an extra space in your [img] link on your address. Try editing it and refreshing, and that wierd photo of the chick with the "eyes" will appear on your signature block! Not an Avatar, but in your messages, none-the-less.

Somehow this thread seems like it should be on warped.
Maybe not if rules have been mentioned.

Charles, Yeah it just looks that easy. I have had a tutorial from the missing Ron (where is he?), I just can't get those photos to post. I guess I'll make it my new mission in life. Anyway DSTM is the coolest. Haven't listened to it in about ten years.

Kathy, the Doobie Bros once sang, "Tell Me What You Want, and I'll Give You What You Need"

Tell me what image you'd like, and I'll email the url to you, provided I can find it. After that, just type the image thingies into your signature, and, after the [img], paste the url. Then do the [/ to finish. It's so simple, even I can do it!!

Emibub
May 18th, 2002, 06:40 PM
Charles, I'll take you up on that when I figure out what it is I want. It has to define me after all. It can't be just any little thing.......
