For those of you who also belong to the PPFA's OLEX, the list administrator has just pulled the plug on it. He was away sick only to come back and find that the list was full of postings about the rude comments of one person both to the list and in private emails to list members. It is too bad that something like this had to happen. Usually the hitchhikers is very business like. It is the place to post problems and solutions, not as free wheeling as the grumble, but the technical advice I have got from it has been from some of the top people in the country. I hope the problems can be solved. I think we should all thank Merrill for his time and effort to administor it.

Anne, I think it will come back. All parties involved in that brouhaha went completely over the top. Kindergarten comes to mind, but after the fallout, I do really believe it will be back online.
And some folks thought the Grumble was tough! Wow. Just shows you bad manners can crop up anywhere.

Anne, I just got the e-mail on that and sent a response I hope will be considered. This is not a good time to pull the plug on it. I often do not receive info in a timely fashion in my area. With the vote looming, the OLE has been the only source of info/opinions I have had. The OLE is my main benefit of membership.

I too think this is a sorry shame. However the main perpetrator in that rudeness mess had posted me privately numerous times with blasphemies and profanities. Not that I've a thin skin, but often my wife and 17 year old read the forum too this to me was unaceptable.
I agree: I trust Merrrill will reinstitute it shortly.

When was the plug pulled? I am still getting responses.

I got Merrill's message about shutting down at 1:29 PM. He said he would be shutting down shortly. However, I just got another message that says 5:11 PM.
I don't think it will be down long, He just needs to clarify the rules to some folks.
I got your email, Art Lady, I've just been too stunned about NYC to think straight yet.

It (the OLE) is not gone -- just temporarily suspended, perhaps until Merril has time to do the job of handling the work connected with running a forum......and (I'm pretty much guessing), have some personal comm. with some of the individuals involved. (I chatted with someone who chatted with Merril to get this info, so I think it's reliable.)
Both the OLE and The Grumble are very much appreciated by this simple framer. Thanks bunches to Framer (and the moderators).

HH is back up. I simply do not understand ugly commentary nor the people who make it.

Hey, Mike
I see your postings on the Hitchhikers all the time and just wanted to say Welcome to the Grumble, quaint li'l wheezy iconoclastic critter that it is.
(Can you believe that Merp's Mom has 1142 posts on this thing?)

Hiya, Steve. http://www.thegrumble.com/framer/ubbs/smile.gif I'm just one of the originies: framer's got me beat by a mile. Wish he'd post just when this version got up and running. Yes, it is an iconoclastic critter, and hope it remains so always.
