I do framing for several local watercolor artists. Most of them are no problem, but I have one artist that has her work framed then decides after it has been framed that she is not pleased with her work and must add something more to the painting. It drives me crazy because I know everything I frame she will take apart herself and add something whimsical which ruins it and then will ask to have it closed up. How much do you charge to close up? Does anyone have this problem with artists?

She gets a full fitting charge less her discount. You do not want to lose business but she needs a consequence that is fair to you.

If she were my client, I would cut the cat and pet the mat.

Had the same deal with one of my artists. I solved the refit problem by matting the piece, letting the artist see the finished matted piece, the after the corrections ,the painting got framed. About 90% of the time she splashed paint on the mat because she was to lazy to take the painting out of the mats.Would then sell her a new mat. This only happened about 5 times ,until the light bulb came on.
