Questions, about the design and tip sections?
1 Dou you photograph your interesting projects to put into a photo album for reference?
2 How many Grumblers would like to post their favorite projects in the design section, but either do not make the time or are not sure how?
3 How many of you can, but it is not important to you, or you are afraid of being criticized?
4 Do you enjoy the design or tips section?
5 How many of you can email a digital or scanned photo.
6 How many would like to send in a photo to be scanned.
7 Can you create a word document that you can email?
It might be fun to post an item for framing that everyone can submit a design for and then everyone could vote on his or her favorite in the voting both.
What do you think?

Lessa,
1.Yes I photgraph my projects.(some start to finish so I don't forget how I did it.)
2.Haven't figured out totally how to post photo yet.
3.I don't worry about the criticism.(you seem to do ok with it)But your pictures are good!
4.Yes but not much action there.
5,6,7.Yes
Sounds like a good project. But then Facts sounds good to me also. Just my opinion, for what it's worth.

Hi Less, How did you photograph the lion pastel? Did you use a digital camera?
I have no idea how to post pictures.
I have taken some pictures of projects, but the photos are not great. The framed picture is usually at an angle because of the way it is propped up.
It seems best to take a picture before the glass is in, but I always seem to forget in the haste to meet the due date.
I enjoy seeing other framers' work. It's a great way to learn. So thanks to all of you who have posted pictures of your work.

I take lots of photos of my work. I scan them in and use them in my newsmailer for the "Frame of the Month" section.
I sent a couple to Tom once to post for me. Uh, they "sank slowly into oblivion" without nary a comment.
That's ok, my customers love to see their frames featured. tongue.gif

I take a picture and send it to Ron.

I finally took the time to learn to load a picture, (see East Texas Marketing in Warped) but it was too small...put in a link instead, still too small...gotta get some Ron-type advice. I am determined to figure this out! To answer the original question, I do take pictures of projects, but can't count how many cool ones I've forgotten to take, and wish like crazy that I had! We do have a digital camera, but it is hard to prise it out of my husband's grasp long enough to use it at work. I love to see the other's work, what a great learning tool...I guess no one really likes to have their work picked apart, but judging by the responses on the ones that have been posted "in house" (so to speak), I don't see too many flamings . That seems to be reserved for commentary on magazine article projects...I really wish more people would post their interesting designs.

I have a question, and maybe it's a little off topic, but I am curious on what you think. Sometime back, I did a very elaborate shadow box complete with aluminum baseball bat and mitt. I took a picture of it because it was one of the best shadow boxes I've done, I think, and I wanted to have something to give me ideas should anything along that ilk came alond again.
My question is this: Mike and I want to post it on the website. Should I be getting the customer's permission first? There really is no picture that connects it to this customer, and the name on the certificate included can be blurred out. What do you guys think?

Less,
I think the design forum would be immensely popular if we can come up with a simple (6 steps or less,) universal means for Grumblers to post photos. Marc and I have had some discussions about this and will continue to investigate.
====================================
Leslie,
You were almost there with your marketing photo. You need to actually open the image in MSN Communities and then right-click, open properties, etc. You posted the URL address for the thumbnail - not the actual image.
I tried to fix it for you and everytime I'd submit the edited post, The Grumble would insert a space in the address and invalidate the URL. Perhaps the image is too big - though I don't think so. I'll try and post a link on your thread when I'm done here.
===================================
Andy,
If you're talking about posting the photo to The Grumble, I wouldn't worry about getting your customer's permission. In fact, doing that might just lead a consumer to TG, were he/she would find out that many Grumblers consider customers to be rude, stupid and ignorant. (Does anyone else think this is inappropriate for a public forum, albeit one that not many people would stumble across by accident? Any visits here by consumers would likely set framing marketing efforts back at least 20 years or more.)
If you're talking about posting the photo on your own company website, I think it would be a courtesy to ask permission. Most people would be flattered and might even send their friends and relatives to your site to see it. That would be a good thing, assuming you don't talk about how stupid consumers are on your website.

Ron,
Good point! I believe that alot more people read this stuff than what we know.
About the posting of customers pics on websites, getting the customers permission sound like the best way to avoid any trouble.
Here in IL. (I think it was just here, but not sure) they put into law some kind of privacy act that makes it against the law to publicly show individuals pictures without permission. We had to sign conscent forms for all our kids functions(school and every thing else.)so that they could use there pictures for anything, even getting awards.
Something to think about.
