With all the talk about making CC glass your default glass, do you all use the stickers on the back of the frame indicating that it has CC glass?
I've just traded e-mails with the marketing guy at Tru-vue (sorry can't remember the name, it is on my PPFA e-mail forum list) but I was asking about using the phrase "It's like sunscreen for your art" and he tells me that they already promote doing that (funny, I'd never seen it before, but anyway...) He sent me a logo with it and I asked about making labels with it for the back of the frame. He said they have stickers to use for that, but if I want to use this logo that would be fine, too.
Did you know they were available? And do you use them?

Yes, we use stickers on consevation clear glass. However, we are so used to using CC glass that I sometimes forget.
Thanks for the reminder. I won't forget tomorrow.
It really is good to use those stickers. Someday, when the customer is confused about what kind of glass she used, the sticker tells them.

Each box of glass has stickers in it. But you can also get them for free from tru vue. Yes we use them.

Well I've never seen any. I'll go look right now!
By the way, his name is Mike Tongwarin.

Betty,
I always use the stickers. Some come in the Tru Vue box, but sometimes they are damaged, so I keep a roll of them that I received from Tru Vue. Customers that pick up the order are glad to see the sticker....it verifies their upgrade.
I also use the Museum Glass stickers as well.

To minimize scratching, I keep the glass in the boxes inside my storage racks and just opne one end. Sometimes the stickers don't show up until the box is empty.
I always us the UV stickers - even if I use regular glass. (Just kidding about that second part.) The stickers look really great with my indigo blue dust covers or with the blue grey Lineco paper on my c/p jobs.
I also got some stickers from Cyro that describe how to clean the Acrylite glazing and another that has check-boxes for the different products so you can specify which Acrylite you use. Those stickers came directly from Cyro. They didn't come with the glazing.

Indigo Blue dust cover paper? That sounds nice, what weight/width is it?

It's 36", I think 40# weight and about the color of blueprint paper. I get it from Vicki Schober who, thank God, delivers. It's sometimes hit-or-miss which colors she'll have in stock, so I may switch to Aqua or Maroon next time.
I find it very useful to change dust-cover colors from time-to-time. If someone brings in something I framed (probably because they dropped it down a flight of stairs or threw it at a spouse) I can say, "Oh, I see the problem. I framed that during my indigo phase. I've moved on to Aqua, so you shouldn't have any more trouble with this frame."

...and in the light of one of Ron's color phases, I was taught to date the shop sticker. Anyone else do this? Also let's you know just what horribles you were including in the frame job waaay back then that you aren't now.

I date inside the framing package on the backer, and then apply the dust cover.

The last line of our shop sticker is: "Framed:_________" where we usually put the month and year. My favorite is when we get an older crate of Tru-Vue and get the little stickers. They are nicely proportioned for smaller work. Although we have a roll of CC stickers, we seem to run about even on the included ones, rarely dipping into our extra supply. Do you put the cling stickers on the front as well? We got a roll of those, but we don't use them much...

Several years ago (during my short lived "non framing phase" uh, I was being a "mother", anyway...) my sister-in-law purchased a framed piece that had one of those types of stickers on the front that said something to the effect of "this is a limited edition print, etc..." and she was told to leave it on there to, I guess, show the value(?) of the piece?
Anyway, you don't really expect the customer to leave those stickers on do ya? (In my opinion, it looks sorta tacky...)

Are the "stickers" you referred the static-clingy type? I think those are more just for "in the showroom display", so you can easily show your customer that the glass used is the CC, without having to take the art off the wall and show them the sticker on the back. I had a small roll kicking around for a bit, but I threw it away a few weeks ago. I never used them, and since most, if not all, the framed pieces hanging in the gallery DO have the CC, seemed redundant to use those too. The only stickers we use are the ones for the back. I have a couple of small rolls directly from Tru Vu, but I also save the ones that come out of the box, provided that they are not damaged.

We've used UV as standard for 4 years now, and have never looked back. Customers are aware of UV and know it makes sense.
We always use the stickers, and our store sticker includes the date and the work order number in computer ( Frameready ).
PS Tru-Vue is very generous with promo stuff. Last year for a home show we were in they sent me thousands of their Framing 101 brochures along with 200 pens and 200 boxcutters.

I always use the stickers and point them out to the customer at pickup (just telling them they are easily peeled off and as a subtle reminder of the value they're getting.

When we have them we use them, at times we do run out but that is usually short lived. I was not aware of there being diferent ones for Musuem though, investigation is impending! The little static ones when we have them go on the front so as the customer has a reminder of the fact we used a UV inhibiting glass.
Also on the back of our work we always put the date, the job number and the asembler, asembly, person who stuck it together's staff number. (Fix that one for me Cap'n!)
