I was wondering what everyone does for design display. I am looking to set up a new one at our front window and am looking for ideas to help get those creative juices flowing.

I don't get to do a design in a front window.(Building is hidden on lower half from road)
But IF I could, I would go with seasonal images, using fabrics and color to enhance. IE: Summertime, find some prints that have that feeling, picnic scenes, beach....heck even put some sand in there.

How about a red & white checked tablecloth, even throwing in some plastic yellow and red ketchup & mustard bottles. Just let it fly.. ;)

I like to use props. Sometimes I go with the theme of the art - for June I had vintage golf posters and put my late Grandmother's golf bag (lovely black & yellow plaid c. 1958) in there. Sadly, no one bought those prints though I had a few offers on the clubs.*

More often though I try and use furnishings and household items as props - sort of an "If you have lamps like this you should buy thse prints" mental suggestion.

As I have become bored with every theme I can think of I have started doing windows based on a single color.

<font size=1>It is my guess that they did not sell because they were large and priced over $800 in very simple frames. It seems I sell more dsiplay art right out of the window that is little and pretty and priced for "cash & carry."</font size>
