Our Wizard will go on swimmingly, and then every so often, like yesterday, it will chew up a mat board. Of course, it was a special order mat board. I had enough to cut another one, but it aggravates me to waste mat board, especially the archival stuff.
I attributed the problem to a faulty Wizard blade. It was a new blade, too. After changing it (and the slip sheet which wasn't too ragged), I cut the mat again, and the bevel was fine. It's next to impossible to tell how a new blade will perform until after the fact.
On the subject of blades...we use Excel blades in the Exacto-type knives. The Exacto blades go dull so quickly. The Excel blades are really sharp and stay that way for a number of cuts.
We're not sure where to reorder the Excel blades except from the manufacturer. I wish UMS carried them. I'm pretty sure they don't. Does anyone else use them?
