Probably the dumbest thing I have heard out of a customers mouth is, "Do you work here?" Of course the proper responce should be... "No,do you think they will notice that I'm using their matcutter?"
The other question that botthers me is, "Do you do framing here?" I always want to say, "No, I'm a plumber. Why, does it look like a frame shop?"

Phone call,
Her "how much to frame my certificate?"
Me "What type of frame would you like, and what size is it"
Her "Standard size, I thought I'd follow your advise for framing"
I explained that there were a varity of "standard" sizes, only to be met with
Her "if you don't know what a standard size is just say so!"
She then proceeded to give me the measurements " two and a half hand spans wide, and one and a half high, how much to frame that"
(I don't know about anyone else here, but thats not a common size in my workshop.)
"How long is a piece of string?"
Eventually this customer came into the store for further advise, the certificate was A4, we never even spoke of the price.

How about this one...I had a lookyloo pick up a hand held mat cutter and go: "Is this sharp?" and before I could say yes he tested it on his thumb slicing it wide open and proceded to bleed all over my work table and out the door. He didn't stick around long enough to give him a bandaid. Of course the howls of laughter didn't exactly encourage him to stay.
