Before switching to Speedmount awhile back, we housed foamcore and acid free foamcore, plus MT5 and ArchivalMount, or whatever they're calling it these days.
I now read in the instructions that Speedmount is neutral pH. Does this mean I can use it in the applications previously calling for Acid free foamcore and Archival Mount?
Seems now all I need is one board--Speedmount--and a few regualr foamboards with Fusionmount for those "down and dirty" type specialty mountings.

We have been using "Speedmount" for 2 1/2 years with great success. The product we use is called "Super Kool-Tac" from Frame Specialties.
It is my understanding that these guys apply the coating for Bainbridge. they also carry it in black foam-core and acid free foam-core.
The black is great for newspaper pages or anything that has printing on the verso.
The acid free FC/Kool-Tac would be better than speedmount to the same level that AFFC is better than reg. FC. As you know FC in general are not the best choice for conservation compared to rag or coreplast.
The adhesive is removable (it really is), pH neutral, low temp and short dwell time. To my way of thinking this makes these products almost perfect for drymounting.
I have talked with Frame Specialties about coating a rag board for a more archival mount as well as warped fabric mounts.

I believe some caution is warranted here. The adhesive is PH neutral the foam board is not. If I'm incorrect someone from Tru Vue should weigh in. I think this means that it is no different from using several of the PH neutral films combined with regular foam. It would be better to use a PH neutral film with AF foam.
