Anyone going to the show in Vegas this week? If so, see me at the Colorplak booth.

Looks like no one here made it to the show. It turned out to be a great show. Not nearly as big as NY, but it was a great start for the first time show by Picture Framing Magazine.
I anticipated the show to atract mostly West coast framers, but that was not the case. I talked with many framers from the East coast and Canada.
I didn't take any of the education classes, but they all sold out. And the rumor was that the classes were the best many framers had ever taken.
And the big thing you all missed was the new invention by Wizard. It is going to change our industry just like their original automated mat cutter did. They had a sneak preview and will do the official release in NY. If you weren't there, I can't tell you what it is, or I'd have to staple your fingers together with a v-nailer.
Great job Picture Framing Magazine. I look forward to next year!

A most excelent show.
I would have come by the booth, but did not read the board before leaving.
I slogging away, fitting pictures in the Technology Demonstration Pavilion.
Did you hapen to make it by there?

I made it by the Technology Pavilion. Quite impressive, 4 framers framing 25 complete pictures an hour. And only $1800/month to lease all the equipment. You could be profitable at that pace.

I was there as well but I seemed to have missed the FramerGuy .I did have the pleasure of meeting Marc and a few others like Nona Powers and James Miller.Unfortuneately my name isn't as recognizeble so I missed meeting a lot of you. I was also impressed with the show and my wife was impressed with the sight.I took a few guilding related classes and Jay Goltz's and a couple on innovative matting and profits.
My wife and I took some pictures of the Hitchhikers and also wish to thank PFM for the reception given for the HHs maybe the Grumblers should have a get together next time.

The best Trade Show I've been to in a long time. It was a true convention, with great education and a Trade show and Vegas was pretty cool too. The "Future of Framing" panel discussion was very interesting. I worry about the Framing business spliting into the computerized "haves and have nots". There was lots of Larson bashing too. Always fun. I hope they have another one next year.

Scott,
Who is doing the Larson bashing?
Not to jump-start a deservedly dead subject, just curious.

I was there too, FrameGuy, for the "Day with FACTS" discussion panel. Sorry to have missed you.
PFM did an outstanding job, considering that it was their first effort. I'm sure subsequent years will bring bigger & better offerings from PFM in Las Vegas.
The trade show was very good, even though small. The receptions and the discussion panels were very informative -- and entertaining. But the educational classes were the *big* hit.
See you there next year!

Any more discussion or word of any kind about "sharing" these classes? There was some talk about selling videos or at least booklets of the classes. Sorry for the ignorance, but is it really hard to make a video of a class and market it to those who couldn't attend?

MM;
Correct me if I'm wrong but aren't you confusing PPFA with PFM? This show was attened by PPFA but it was conducted by PFM.
They were solely in charge of it and this was their first attempt.
HH were present and a host of PPFA's board was there as well but only as attendees.

Sideways?? I think if they ever make videos they probabley will need to charge what others paid to attened don't you think. So you might as well be there.

Hi,
We were in Las Vegas (I brought along two employees) and feel that it was a good decision to travel from New York for this. The classes that were offered were superb and all three of us were busy each day, for the most part taking different classes and then comparing notes. We learned alot but more important we came away invigorated and ready to make changes. The trade show was very small in comparison to Frame-o-rama which we have attended for 15 (?) years.
It is a shame to have missed meeting all of you, but maybe we will meet at another show or next year in Las Vegas!

True, Buddy, I'd like to go to ALL of them. But in lieu of that, plus traveltime, hotels, etc., I'd be more than happy to pay for the video at the going rate. After all, wouldn't I be gaining the knowledge even though missing the interaction? Yes, I think I was confusing PPFA with PFM. I'm sure someone can see some humor in that statement, of whatever kind.
And going out on a limb here, I do not have the enthusiasm for the PPFA Education Program at Decor ABC's as I did for Decor's own programs. Probably just an imperfect perception. Nice to hear someone speak well of PFM's slate.
