Just wanted to share my thoughts with everybody. Feel free to kick it off if you feel it's not proper.
Today We Remember
Today, we remember, that day that came before,
When evil came from a clear blue sky and slammed on freedom’s door.
We all watched together, in shock and disbelief,
As the smoke rose and the towers fell and the darkness filled the streets.
Now, it’s two years later and, yes, so much has changed,
But, as we watch the scene replayed, we know so much remains.
Now, we live with terror warnings. What color are we today?
The horror may come for us again, but where? No one can say.
So, we live our lives and we do our jobs and we buy the milk and bread,
And somewhere deep in the back of our thoughts lives a residue of dread.
But, we hold closer the ones we love, we cherish a normal day,
We take time for the important things, we take time to laugh and play.
Today, we remember, that day that came before,
When evil came from a clear blue sky and slammed on freedom’s door.
A lot of goodness died that day and, yes, so much has changed,
But, if we cherish those around us more--
Perhaps it wasn’t all in vain.
