View Full Version : Sources for BIG Art

A customer who owns a spa wishes to have two oversized, low-priced ($100 or less) posters. My sources, not eing a gallery, are Portfolio, Wild Appel and Editions Ltd., and my books are with a customer right now so I can't look them over. I gave her some brochures I picked up in Atlanta on vintage reproduction posters, but she doesn't care for them. She says her taste is "that light painter guy". But earlier she had mentioned black and white photo reproductions. Help! The upshot is: I would appreciate knowing of any source for the now so popular, oversized art in poster form. Any.

Thanks.

Hi Mel,

Hookup with either Liebermans 800-221-1032 or Art Print Index (phone no. in trade magazines) API has a web site [URL=http://www.Artprintindex.com] .

Sorry, A L, rumor has it that API is no longer in business...hang on to your index and CD. Maybe someone will buy API and continue on.....

So much for an internet presence. Very interesting. Other grumbles have questioned this business model. Thanks for the news.

This site has a lot to offer. http://www.globalgallery.net/index.htm Liebermans does have an on line site but not sure of the url. Which light painter is she refering? Barns, Kinkade or several others.

Checked out that frameyourart.come site and they have a lot of prints, check it out.

I have a large poster Marilyn Monroe!

I HAVE BEEN TRING TO ACCESS ART PRINT INDEX ON THE WEB THE LAST COUPLE OF DAYS CAN'T GET THEM. I CALLED THEM THIS MORNING AND ART.COM ANSWERED THE PHONE (THE RETAIL DIVISION) AND THEY SAID ART PRINT INDEX IS INDEED OUT OF BUSINESS AND WOULD GIVE ME NO FURTHER INFORMATION.

Yes, API is Kaput (spelling?). I will try all the other possibilities. I have not made connection with Leibermans but I sounds like I should.

JPete: How big is Marilyn? That may be just the thing!

Thanks, all.

Marilyn is 33x47. She was in the old Bruce McGaw but is not listed in the new2000 on line. Global gallery does show the same thing in smaller size. It's the one by Helnwein. There is also a James Dean in that oversize. McGaw has it under Celebritiy and Kids....The last catologue showed them at $50.

We received two mailings from API this week. If I didn't know better and responded does anyone think I would have received a refund??

I for one am glad I chose to wait until EXPO to reorder. Love the new McGaw express and Lieberman's.

about 10-12 years ago when API concept was in its infancy- i sent a check to a new orleans address and never received the reference book advertised in the mail out...
so i contacted the post office and filled out the paper work to claim mail fraud.
they did all the leg work and traced the company to californa and i received a refund fairly quick. so there is some recourse.
seems like this outfit has had problems from day one.
