Got all my marketing tools---little glass chips, tryptich-like display of Crescent Crystal. NOW--how do I price it? Nowhere on the literature are the packing quantities and sizes (altho Decor did have sizes in their latest issue on glass)
Missing is: pricing. My distributors are awaiting their first shipment. I don't want to wait. I want to presell this stuff.
Sooooo--how are you guys pricing this? Anyone making regular Crystal their default glass over regular? E-mail privately if you don't want to share pricing on the forum. I'd love to put a coupla orders in the bank before I buy the stuff.

Lise. There is some info you might use at this previous string from 8/16, "What a Pane in the Glass!"

Hi Mike-We haven't gotten our goodie package yet, so I can't give you much help except to say the first thing I would do is compare my cost to other comparablely priced glazing. Then I would compare the features and benefits of the new product from the established product (established in terms of consumer acceptance). If it is superior (and not just what Crescent says) than it should be priced accordingly. If not, why carry it.
Then I would run a little promotion of the product and let the customer tell me if I'm priced well or not. Consumer resistance is the best test of all.
Of course, we ought to do it with everything we sell. But if we just let the POS tell us what it should sell for, we miss that golden opportunity of finding out what it SHOULD sell for.
And only the consumer can answer that with a little market test

Bob: what I like about this product is the fact that it is available in many sizes, not just the three or so that TruVue offers with their product. Wouldn't mind stocking the stuff, but....
I thought Ron Eggers wasusing it. Whazzup Ron: yes or no?
As for promoting, the shelf display unit is very convincing and comes with little 3 x 3 or so lites of regular glass vs. crystal. It'll sell itself. I'm just afrtaid to put it out in fear I'llunderprice.
I'm figuring pricing should be around TruVue's Ultraclear, so I'll go with that until I get better understanding. That stuff is costly enough so I know I won't lose money.
Can't do that ya know

Michael,
Regarding your original question of the cost of Crystal UV, our cost is double that of Tru-Vue Conservation Clear. OR, according to the salesperson, it is the same price as Tru-Vue Conservation Clear per box. What they don't tell you is that it comes in 25 sqft boxes rather than 50 sqft boxes. I don't know how that compares to UltraClear

Michael, I have been playing with the Crescent glass and I'm enthusiastic, but have not yet made the switch.
From my distributor, The Vicki Schober Company, the Crystal is priced a little lower than True Vue Ultra Clear (the water white product.) The Crystal UV is a little lower than the True Vue Conservation Ultra Clear. I believe that distributor prices might varie, as they do with matboard (but not with Nielsen metals, have you noticed?)
I have never used a True Vue water white glass, but I like the way art looks behind Acrylite, which is naturally clear (not green.) L-J doesn't carry the Ultra-Clear glass, but I have a couple of distributors that do.
If you want me to fax you the Schober price list for Cresecnt glass, email me your fax #. I tried posting it as a PDF file when it came out, but - to my knowledge - nobody successfully accessed it.

The distributor will set the price based on Crescent's "recommended" retail pricing. It will vary widely by region. I would put the pressure on your distributor.
