4" mat now use paper like C3300

But sometimes you just gotta. Specially for Ms Cheapie who dies when she sees pricing with rag mats and UV glass.

And as I said on the other priceline, I'm bored I'm slow and I think this kinda stuff is very cool. :D

Perhaps a moot point: when my customers want a cheap poster framed cheaply, they do not go for triple mats and they usually like nice inexpensive metals... And someone who is being thrifty would NEVER go for 4" mats!

In other words, I could do an inexpensive presentation in a #15 metal with single reg mat, reg glass and drymount for around $120. Am I "leaving money on the table" or am I making my customers happy and giving them what they want?

Gotta go now and gird my loins.

My point was, tho, that after designing the thing in rag and UV and all that with the three mats, etcetc and she dies, I can now "fall back" using the same design with inexpensive papers, reg. glass and that kinda stuff.

Tuesday when I'm back in the shop and on Lifesaver I can give you a more accurate cost, but I think 150 would be about right for me. ;)

I am surprised at the spread of pricing on this project.

I came up with $314.24 and didn't add the $30.00 for the poster!

It would be interesting to find out what section of the country was represented by each vote. I'll bet that there isn't much in common location-wise to the various pricing of the framing.

(Now that I did this one, I'm going to have to go back and find the other one to see where I fit on that one.)

This has gotten me completely confused.

I checked the base lineal for 490CG in the LJ catalog and it amounts to $4.23/ft. Is that what you are figuring the retail cost of this moulding at??

Because on my markup, that moulding retails for $15.45/ft.

I used FrameReady to calculate an estimate using the normal pricing that I would use for any customer. If some of the voters on this poll figured an estimate on paper using the price per foot that you gave as retail, they would come up with an extremely low estimate.

If I figured this estimate based on $4.11/ft., I would be so far in the hole that my doors would SLAM shut as my business went down the tubes.

Maybe I just don't understand the question.

$4.11 is Larson's lineal COST TO US for the moulding. I added price because I know everyone doesn't use LJ, so I added that so everyone could use whatever moulding in that price range.

Yes, you're right. I too figure 14-16 per foot for the moulding.

And yes, I was the HIGHEST resale in this survey. ON BOTH SURVEYS. Need I lower prices? Considering it, after I do some market research. But a tiny voice is telling me "no"" :eek:

I just wonder , I dont't know if ya'll chop your own moulding, I do and save alot of money by doing it. i know that alot of frame shops don't anymore I guess a lack of skill or time. anyways what I do is look at my suppliers price list and multiply the chop price by 3, and the the cheap meatal oem15g is 1.23 *3 is 3.69, which a 18by 24 with a 2 1/2 in mat I come up with 94.21 for miss cheapy and she leave with a smile and i do too.

NO I don't mrs Cheapy will go for that. but my price was based on the cheapist frame i could get not including the print.

I figured the frame, mat ,glass and labor at $108.26. Miss Cheapo,and sometimes I think thats the only people out there, had her own print so I did not price that in. Unless I missed something $108.26 stands for me but I am new and hope my prices are in the ballpark for small mid west town. ctc

Have to jump back in I did not figure dry mounting at $13.40. That would make $121.66 rather than the $108.26 I just posted. ctc
