Starting bid $25,000.00 to have lunch and pick his brain.

For $25,000 I think I'd be more likely to pick his pocket. On the other hand, for $25 bucks you can have lunch with me and pick my brain and my pocket. We'll have a little scuffle over that, and then get roaring drunk and see how long it takes to get thrown out. You're buying, though.

I'll let him have lunch with me if he pays the tab.......otherwise I am not interested in lunch with someone whose last name sounds like an all-you-can-eat place... ;)

And yes, the lunch tab will be around the amount he's asking.

About 2 years ago he was in a Q/A on PBS. It was the only time I remember grabbing my pen and jotting down some notes. His ideas are applicable in all kinds of fields and not just investing.

He is an interesting cat for sure. I'd buy lunch to eat with him. Why would you pay the second richest man in the world?

$25K seems a little low. I'd be interested to see where it ends

Robin Williams offers a day with him as part of a cahrity auction we work with and that offer always goes for several $100K; $25K will surely escalate

Jay-I'm with you. When I go to the PMA/PPFA meetings I make a point to spend some "quality" time with the most successful guy I can find for exactly the same reasons

Most of these types are simply pretty nice people. If you can "hold your own", you'll be surprised how giving most are and a few minutes can easily turn into friendships

It doesn'tget much better than listening to some really accomplished people

Warren just donated almost all his wealth to charity!!!!

If that is the first piece of advice to me, the lunch is off!

How about a Grumble auction to bid on lunch with Bob Carter and the proceeds going to the Thomas McKeon Scholarship through the PPFA?
The only rule would be you can't talk about Michaels or PITA'S ;)

Hey Julia-When I am at the shows or conventions, I'll have lunch with anybody and it won't cost a dime.

And don't worry, when the conversation drifts towards the evil empire or cranky customers ( or Thomas Kinkade), I'll either change the direction or "have something else" to do

Too many more important things we ought to talk about. Those that just won't get out of that rut, I suspect, just don't want to.

Won't say what their time is worth at these very brief opportunities, but I do know what mine is worth

I'm delighted to see that Warren has followed my lead. When I appear at such functions I, too, donate my Honorariums to Charity

He was on PBS last night for an hour. That man says more brilliant things on accident than most do on purpose.

I was too tired to take notes...ok I fell asleep but it was still interesting.

He did say that one of his problems with business is that things take time. He said that he has never bought a business that was very proffitible in a short time.

He said that dynistic (lucky sperm) wealth kills the free market and stiffles creativity. I'm sure thats why he only gave his kids a billion.

He LOVES his job and life. I don't think you could force him into a negitive conversation. Not on TV anyway. Its very energizing.

I'm thinking that anyone who can afford a half million dollar lunch doesn't need to pay to have lunch with Mr Buffet (because they're already on speaking terms), and probably doesn't need to have lunch with him (because they obviously already have money to burn).

Bob you did say anyone...are you going to Atlanta? I am hoping to go and if I had a lunch date I would find a way. I always like to sit next to someone smarter than myself and hope something rubs off.

Let me know if you are going.

Hey Patrick-Won't be in Atlanta; will be doing PPFA work in Ottawa. But, I will talk to anyone (ask my wife-as she rolls her eyes).

98% always have great stories and ideas to share and we all learn. That's why it's so wasteful to take any time discussing Michael's, cardboard backing, the guy down the street, Thomas Kinkade all the garbage that consumes so much of the air.

So, Patrick, I would enjoy our visit. After Ottawa, perhaps Vegas. Dinners are always reserved for clients, vendors and Bill McCurry, but I always leave lunches and breakfast open for other framers

I enjoy talking shop and love to hear the how the "regular joe" gets it done

Heck, I'm just a "regular joe" with a different decimal point

Somehow, I don't believe Warren Buffet needs your 25K. I think the price is there simply to keep the volume down. How many folks do you think would sign on if it was only, say, $100.00?

If it is now half a million, think of the quality time you would have with him, it'll just be you and a few other folks, if that. Non of us rabble will be there to waste his, and your time, with inane questions.

Like any endeavor that has a price, you get what you pay for. In this case, a little learning, but mainly, bragging rights.

$620,100 won the Lunch. Do you think that the guy that bid $620,000 breathed a sigh of relief?

Just think about it...

Most of my customers whine when the price of a frame job goes over $100.

points to ponder...

Just like with paying for corner samples smile.gif
You pay if you have reasonable hopes to make big money off them, and you don't if you're in surviving from one month to the next business.
The guy who won that privileged lunch has big ambitions and many questions pounding to get out of his mind. Good for him.
