Americans are entitled to see what is on their credit report at no charge, once every 12 months.
The database for the Eastern part of the USA officially goes live 9/1, but it's working now if anyone would like to see where they stand. Personally, I found several mistakes in addresses, previous employers, etc. It's interesting to see how much info is collected!

MIKE, YOU ROCK!!!
It is scary to see how much info is only a few clicks away.
Luckily mine was ok.

Thanks Mike. I've been afraid to do this because I had heard so many bad things about people using the wrong address and ending up giving their info to crooks.. The report was very interesting.

Nona, just click to Mike's link and you can't go wrong. West Coast is now live. Have your bank statements and stuff handy when you do it....
They will ask questions about loans or accounts you may or maynot have to verify it's you.
Takes about 30 or so minutes and you will be printing off your report, so have plenty of paper. Mine went 87 pages with the three agencies, and we have a little cleaning up as to "last employement"... tow trucking in San Jose was about 30 years ago. . . but it pays to clean that stuff up.

I am unsure whether or not you are refering to personal credit reports or business credit reports.
A year ago, Dunn and Bradstreet called and said that our business was not listed and would we like to give some company information such as annual sales, ect so that we would be legit if someone looked us up. We said no but recently we had to apply for credit with Rowe furniture in the states (love what canadians can buy US dollars for), and their credit check company is Dunn & Bradstreet.
Well to make a long story short, we gave credit references as Roma and Larson. We pay by credit card on the due date but both their due dates are on the 24th of the following month. The problem is that the statement shows the first invoice date as being the 1st of one month but the total balance is due on the 24th of the next month, which is roughly 50 days later. As a result, we are deemed poor credit now with D & B as we pay 50 days late. Even though we don't pay late.

The problem you described has more to do with the billing cycles and happens regardless of how you pay (credit card); it has everything to do with the fact that you are paying off of Statement Vs. Invoice. If you use Quickbooks, you can schedule it so as to prevent this little snafu. ;)
Since you're paying with credit card (which you obviously prefer), you could call in and pay each invoice, and you'd still get the cycle time on your credit card, buying you a week to three weeks. You'd then show prompt with LJ and Roma, plus you can take the Invoice discounts.

Lisa,
Why would you ever pass up the 2% discount (5% for orders over $500) for net 20 days cash payment to LJ just for a little credit card float? Do the math - you're paying a big APR and hurting your credit standing by that delay. Net 30 means 30 days from the invoice date not next month's statement date.
