I would like to do a few talks (to Rotary Clubs and the like ) on the benifits of having your framing done properly with good materials and methods.
I am hoping some of you may have some photos of poor framing techniques. e.g. taped artwork on all four sides, acid burns, photos stuck to glass etc etc. Or maybe even a website with these that I could use.
Any help would be great.
email me nefs@temidesign.com
Thanks in advance
Dave

I have a collection of a lot of these things which I keep in sheet protectors in a binder. Whenever anything really horrible comes in that I will be replacing I always ask the customer if I can use this as a bad example. Folks are usually tickled to give me permission.
I have a wonderful collection of awful mats hand-cut with dull butter knives! And I have even saved the brown brittle tapes removed from backings...
I don't know how well this stuff would photograph - I think you should start your own collection! If you have to go to thrift stores, lawn sales or even antique stores - you could easily accumulate quite a collection!
I even have rusty paperclips and rotted rubberbands in this collection of mine - and shinglebacks - I also have a collection of shoestrings and phone wire that folks have used on the backs of frames - LOL!

Framar,
I willl be starting my own collection, Didn't think of going to Thrift stores though. I was hoping to put into a powerp[iont presentation, but your book sounds like a good idea as welll. Have to recharge those batteries of mine and keep a spare set.

Dave,
The Ireland PF Forum (http://estlite.scenes.biz/phpBB2/index.php) site has a section titled 'Blunders, Gaffes, and Faux Pas' with pics etc.
Not sure about downloading them for your use (copyright ?), might pay to e-mail the admin John and ask.

I have always diligently taken pictures of finished jobs, but it never crossed my mind to take pictures of goofs and blunders. Great idea! Also, thanks for the forum link. Yet, another great source of info. and framing friends.

Dave: I have a page on my website that has a photo showing the effects of acid burn. Here is the link:

If you click where indicated, you will see a disgusting close-up. Feel free to copy and paste these pictures as you like. I took them, so there's no copywrite issue.
