I wanted to get some input. I have used three different POS software systems over the last 15 years. I currently use Specialty Soft. All of them offer an extensive list of vendors. One vendor has always been missing. It would be a real asset to have United Mfr. Supply as an authorized vendor. Peter Ackerman if your out there please seriously consider working toward accomplishing this goal.
All you Grumblers would you encourage this? I am going to try and post a poll in the voting booth so you can express your interest.
Thanks,

United is listed among the FrameReady vendors, although the prices haven't been updated for a few years.

Why would you want to buy software from a dealer when you could buy it from the producer?

Apparently I didn't make myself clear. I don't want to buy software from United. Rather I want United to incorporate their items & pricing in POS software so that you can create purchase orders in your POS software(SpecialtySoft,FrameReady, etc.) that can be forwarded to United using POS software. This would work much the way POS software can create purchase orders for the various molding vendors. So that you can fax or electronically froward them to the molding vendor.

United uses custom software to run our computers. We are unable to port our price list into the format needed by the POS software available. I have looked into this again just recently and the cost to rewrite our entire price list in the format needed is many thousands of dollars. As much as I would like have United included in the POS software, I am afraid that the cost to do so is prohibitive.

Peter,
How about exporting your files in a tab delimited or comma delimited format a là Decor or Larson-Juhl?
I suspect that many of us could fiddle with it, import it into a spreadsheet, and, from there, into a POS ourselves.

Or grab it from the standard file formats used on the web page, where it has already been converted or may be maintained as a standalone database.
I don't personally see the necessity for doing so, but it's possible. Different customers may be on different pricing schedules/columns. Just listing the prices in a file is a simple project, but accepting electronic orders could be a major undertaking.
