Liebermans sells their database on a DVDR,(or multiple cdrs) which you probably know. The DVD seems to have more info than the books. A third option with them is to connect to their web site, if you have a dedicated internet feed in the shop. We have the books for customers, but usually use the internet when searching for something specific. (quicker)

Virtual Gallery has a service for about $684/year. John Ranes has used it and can probably give his opinion.

Theres a great thread about this at http://thegrumble.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=1;t=004430

You can (or you used to be able to) buy a posters only version DVD from Wizard for about $125 per year rather than the $57 per month option which shows everything - limited editions and posters. I really liked it except it kept freezing up the computer when it went to screen saver. The computer finally revolted and refused to open it. We use Lieberman's now, but I think the other was much more user friendly.
Of course, when I called about problems, I was the only one that ever had a problem with this software....maybe it was our computer. We'll never know.

I used the Virtual Gallery (Wizard) for several years, and never did get all the problems worked out. In some versions, the images loaded painfully slowly.

In most versions the screen saver would load up the memory after a few hours, making it necessary to reboot every time a customer wanted to use the program. The fix for that problem was to not use the screen saver feature.

Last spring I switched to Lieberman's DVD. It's not perfect, but better than any others I've seen. My only wish for Lieberman's program would be to have a way to make an image go to full-screen size (or almost).

I run the program on our oldest computer, which has an 800Mhz processor, 8gb hard drive, and 256mb RAM. The program runs OK, but slower than I would like. The fix for that, of course, is to use a faster computer. I'm saving my lunch money for that.

This is another reason I appreciate the grumble and feel that we should air complaints. When I called about my problems, I was told that I was the only one having problems with it freezing up. I explained that I knew that wasn't true - and how I knew it wasn't(previous threads).

I wanted to respond to Maryann's comments regarding airing complaints about software. I am the Marketing Director at Lieberman's and want to assure all users of Art Explorer (our CD/DVD) that our marketing and product development team spends a good deal of time prior to each release (new release very 6 months) reviewing all complaints and functionality suggestions. We recognize the product is not perfect and rely on your feedback to assist in the improvement process. There is even a feedback button imbedded in the software. In addition, we pro-actively solicit opinions from several custom framers and high traffic retail outlets as part of this process. I would also like to encourage any interested users to call Lieberman's to discuss your recommendations for Art Explorer.

My post was not clear. I was having problems with Virtual Gallery freezing our computer. I have not had problems with Lieberman's software.

I never had any luck with the Virtual Gallery. Froze CONSTANTLY and tech support took forever...and never fixed all the problems. I use Lieberman's now and I'm very happy with it.
