View Full Version : FramerSelect Mid-Term Performance Appraisal

Well, I got my FramerSelect info packet in February, got really stoked about the March roll-out, put the packet in the "hot" stack on my desk, then forgot all about it.
Anyhow, I just requested a new packet, and I'm almost certain I'm gonna go for it. But I was just wondering...
Since it's now been 5 months since the March roll out of the complete program, I'm hoping that enough time has elapsed so as to get a good preliminary handle on the effectiveness of the program.
So, for those who joined up, what do you think? Thumbs up? Thumbs down? Need more time? Care to elaborate?
Thanks, Max.

I'm not a member but have been thinking about it.
I just went to there web site, seems that only about a hundred shops so far and many multi location operations.
I have the greatist respect in Jay but with out more participation I can't see FramerSelect flying for long.

Max & Diver Dave,
Jump on board......that will get Jay's total above the 100 mark for sure and closer to the 400 that he stated he needed to make this thing fly.
Our shop signed up last year, and the program didn't really get launched until April (about a month behind schedule)........but I still think we need to be patient and give the program a chance.
Most of us have some true respect for Jay's business skills, and I'm positive that he is committed to this project! I've got several reason's for sticking this concept out.....

1. Jay's behind it

2. In June FramerSelect issued it's first monthly newsletter; followed with issue 2 in July - They are communicating with their members on a regular basis. (That's a good http://www.thegrumble.com/framer/ubbs/smile.gif thing.)

3. Accompanying the first newsletter was "10 things to know before framing your picture", a true counter POP sales tool for the framer to hand-out or mail - FramerSelect promised to bring us marketing tools and this is a good start.

4. Continous National advertising in Artnews, Elle Decor, House & Garden, Victoria in July, August and September 2001 issues.

5. I've tracked some traffic already from the FramerSelect domain to my own website.

6. Jay's behind it!
[/list]
Many of us got burnt by another dot com during the past 24 months. Despite this experience, some very respected framers have signed up with FramerSelect (http://www.framerselect.com/index.html). I'd invite others to join in. The concept is good, the start has been promising, and with a few more players, I believe things will really happen.
Regards,
John

I agree with John, especially his reasons 1. and 6. It is so refreshing for someone with Jay's success to try and help those of us that would like to be even better merchants. Frankly, I don't know any place else that can provide that service. And I'm here to tell you that if a know it all like me thinks he can learn something here, what's holding back the rest of you?
If this concept provides nothing more than a forum with other like-minded business people, I'll consider it worthwhile. I like what I see so far, if for no more than the networking opportunity.I am expecting more.
For those looking for a guaranteed success, I'm not sure anyone can provide that much.

I signed up last year in Atlanta, but as John said, the program didn't really get off the ground until early this spring.
It is still way too early to see if I personally get any direct sales from this program.
However, the brochure John mentioned is dynamite. I have given many out and as soon as I can I want to work out a way to send some to targeted areas. Also, the monthly newsletter is interesting and informative.
We have also tracked traffic from their site to our own so I know people are looking.
The magazine ads are well done, but it will take more repitition before we know if the public is aware of the program.

Some of you sure do put a lot of faith in this Jay Goltz character, he must be darned good to be getting the business of those framers who have signed up.
I would like to learn more about what this programme is and does, where should I look?

Lance-Jay's business gives me about 8 million reasons to believe he has more ideas about success than the rest of us.
