This sub-forum was opened for a reason. But after it opened, it has just kinda sat. Always thinking that other folks will post, I have hesitated.

I will now stir the pot.

I have been meaning to do this every month when the mags come for about a year. But a conversation the other day with a very nice fellow tell me it is time to finally do it.

You will get the idea from the other posts.

Thanks for doing this Marc. Now I have to go and dig out my mags so I can contribute to this forum. Intelligently, I hope. Maybe others will follow suit.

My post on trade magazines in general is in the Decor Nov. issue topic. But I will add here that I look forward to the magazines and read them "lid to lid", but I have wondered how one does keep coming up with new stuff. I mean, those of us who've read them for years have heard it all. However, we have to remember that there are new framers coming along all the time that need to hear this stuff that may be old hat to us. How to balance that info is the tough part.

I like to hear about other's promotions and marketing. I love to see how they've arranged their work areas to make them more efficent. Tips, tricks, and techniques! Gimme more!

Marc

Your idea is great, though I must confess I'm VERY SURPRISED by the silence on this sub-forum since you posted, could it be that the various journals have little or no relavance any longer or that there contents are now wrong for todays market place given the speed that information can be found or questions can be answered using the internet or the likes of The Grumble, the Aussie Grumble, Framer to Framer, the discussion board Pictureframer.com, FACT etc. etc. I don't know the hitchhiker so I cannot comment on it.

Times are changing, I have noticed in what is the major bookstore in Dublin that their specialists journal section has diminished in size over the last few years to next to nothing, a few years ago it was very big, this section used to contain imported small circulation journals from the US, UK, etc. now it is a few foreign language journals.

I'm still trying to catch up on the backlog of magazines that sat unread during our busy season, most of which are the ones being commented on here.

Maybe the response is less than stellar because no one knows Marc has opened up some discussions. I haven't looked at this forum in months because it had been just sitting here. I decided to check in yesterday and was happy to see someone took the initiative to do something.A post on the Grumble telling people to take a look might help.
